King of Wands
The Artwork
A king tends his work between the sea and sky, toiling at a task no one else can quite see.
What This Card Means
Standing between sea and sky, toiling at an unknowable task, drawing inspiration forth to nourish those who depend on him.
The Archetype
He works at something most people can't fully see the shape of yet, and keeps going anyway. Jung's Self, fully integrated, doesn't need an audience to keep functioning — it resonates, and whoever needs to find it eventually does. William Morris spent decades at exactly this kind of unglamorous, unseen labor, certain the pattern would matter to someone even before anyone else could see why. Tend to something today that no one's currently watching you tend to.
A Practice For Today
Do one piece of unseen, uncelebrated work today, simply because it matters.
