Action driven by spirit — quietly generous and high-minded. This heart may become overwhelmed when others don't measure up to its ideals, or when the darkness of the world feels unconquerable.
The Archetype
The Chariot's driven will turns toward compassion here — ships launched, causes taken up, generosity as forward motion rather than quiet giving. Jung's Hero archetype in its idealistic register can do enormous good, but it also burns hardest when the world stubbornly refuses to rise to meet it. William Morris channeled his own idealism into exactly this kind of tireless cause-work, though he knew as well as anyone how draining it gets when the world moves slower than your hope for it.
