The steady order of the Four cracks open from its own center, not from outside pressure. Jung would call this the shadow of the very stability that built it — the parts of the structure that were only ever holding a place, not actually load-bearing. William Morris tore down plenty of his own early work once he saw it was decoration, not honest craft. Let this stone finish what it started. Not everything that built you was actually built to last.
