Major Arcana VIII
Justice
The Balance
The card
A collage of human hands takes its turn at the scale in this anonymous study of Raphael. Bertel Thorvaldsen and Rodin are at the helm, weighing the hearts, intentions, and will of all beings. They hold the scale while walking a tightrope over the open sea below. They themselves are likewise held accountable under the watchful eye of Thoth.
“Judge, be judged. Hold yourself and those around you accountable.”
The Justice card is revered in the Tarot as one that indicates a crossroads. You must balance intellect and intuition to make a decision as to which way to turn. Surrender what is beyond your control, but do not let that stop you from owning your part in the journey you are on. This will take discernment and the ability to separate the wheat from the chaff. Do not lose sight of your ability to see the bigger picture and allow justice to be rendered on your behalf. Do not seek revenge, but trust that the Universe is on your side and weighing the scales at all times.
What becomes clear when you include your own accountability?

The archetype in motion
The psyche weighs intention, consequence, accountability, and proportion. Its shadow is cold judgment or moral superiority. Integration weighs consequence while remembering that the one holding the scale also stands upon it.
