The four images reflected in this card contain multiple symbolic meanings. They are representative of the four cardinal directions, the four elements, and, in medieval times, the evangelists Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John — collectively symbolizing completion and the final page in the story. This is an awakening from one dream state into the next having been born again, yet carrying the cumulative knowledge from previous journeys.
These elements are the boundaries of our existence on the physical plane and the woman has not only made peace with these boundaries, but has also mastered and alchemized them.
The World does not represent happiness so much as a state that is beyond emotional poles. It is an unforgettable sense of totality and completeness—both rare and beautiful.
The World card denotes a time to acknowledge and bask in the completion of a cycle. You are in full alignment with your intended path and have acquired the wisdom to prove it. Be wary of rushing headlong into achieving another goal before taking the time to look back and acknowledge where you’ve been, including the lessons learned and knowledge gained. Take a deep breath, take a look around you, and bask in the rare, exceptional feeling that all is right with the world.
